Why Quantity Beats Quality

A surprising but consistent finding among creativity researchers is that the greatest innovators, artists and thinkers don't have a better ratio of good ideas to bad ideas than the rest of us.

The difference is that they have MORE ideas.

And, as a result, they end up with a greater number of good ideas.

So a simple way to begin to improve your creative output is to switch focus: from quality to quantity.

You have way more ideas in you than you think you do. And those early ideas you need to get out of the way, as they're likely to be the most conventional.

Try extending the ideation of part of your process by 25 or even 50%.

Just keep on going.

As Thomas Edison once said, “When you've exhausted all possibilities, remember this: you haven’t.”
