Creative Coaching

Alongside the masterclasses I run for teams, I also offer creative coaching for individuals. Over the past few years I’ve been lucky to work with some incredible people, all at different stages of their careers.

If you’re curious about how creative coaching works then have a read of this piece about the things I’ve learned since I began coaching, or check out this short video …

I work with people in ninety minute sessions. Normally we space these every couple of weeks. Sometimes there’s a little bit of homework in between. Each session costs £200 / $250 / €240 and I usually find that 5 - 6 sessions is enough to resolve most challenges.

The kinds of areas we might cover are …

  • (re)building your creative confidence

  • defining your creative vision

  • finding the right creative role for you

  • creative leadership

  • improving your skills - idea generation, presenting, writing etc

  • overcoming creative block

  • getting started / unstuck on a passion project

To find out how creative coaching could help you, drop me an email telling me a little bit about your situation here and we can arrange a free 30 minute call to talk about how we could work together.

Working with Richard was eye opening and inspiring. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to resolve and understand some problems that I’ve been facing for years in my creative process, and am now excited for the future! The ideation strategies and diverse sources of inspiration from Richard were just what I needed to further my career and creativity. For the first time, I was able to strongly identify my creative persona, give structure to my process and recognise which parts to improve. I highly recommend creative coaching with him if you’re looking to find solutions to creative roadblocks or just want to gain a new perspective to your work.

The sessions with Richard brought me so much joy. It was an amazing space to think, talk and look at things from different perspectives. For these reasons and so many others, Richard is the best creative mentor one could dream of!
— Julie Faucher, Creative Director
It has been excellent working with you. I can honestly say that I feel in a much better place now, making time for my own work has been a real gift and can attribute this new habit to our talks over the past few months. I feel re-energised and re-equipped to make the work better, so again thank you.
— AIDAN, Senior Creative & Writer

I recently did some one to one coaching with Richard which was a really fun and valuable experience. Richard helped me look at the bigger picture of my career and we worked together on defining my values or centre of gravity as Richard put it. At the time I was at what felt like a cross roads in my career, he really helped me find a stronger sense of direction.

Since working with Richard I’m happy to say a range of interesting work opportunities opened up and I’m about to start an exciting creative leadership role.

I highly recommend Richard and his coaching to anyone looking for more clarity in navigating their creative path.
— Matt McDermott - Design Director
Richard is an extremely inspiring and engaging person and his sessions were so insightful, helping breathe more creativity into my work as well as my own life. Working with Richard has been an absolute pleasure, awakening even more passions I have for the job I love. I never wanted the sessions to end. I feel like a brand new creative.

This is not true for all creative types, but I have never found writing that easy. Presenting work and ideas has never been a problem but writing honestly and truthfully about myself is another thing. It just made me cringe … I came across the work of Richard Holman and immediately felt he might be able to help. I booked a series of sessions and we went through the writing process together. We talked about music, books, art, life, having kids, and the idea of turning 50 years old. Richard started by making me think about the things that I admire and that I found inspiring, and to just make notes about each one. My notes turned into paragraphs and for the first time ever I actually enjoyed writing and finally had pieces of text that I was proud of. I don’t normally post on Linked in, but I just wanted to let you know about Richard and how amazing the experience working with him was.

Having Richard as a mentor not only broadened my experience, but also my understanding of the creative process and how to create truly impactful work. I wouldn’t have been able to take the next step in my career without him.
— Fredric, Creative Lead, Viaplay
Richard is an inspirational man to learn from - kind with with a warm demeanour that you can really connect and engage with. He helped me hugely in being able to see the wood for the trees in my career. Can’t recommend him highly enough.
— FRANKIE BOYLE, Artist & Creative Director
At 38, I spent 15 years working as a creative and felt I still needed to figure out my perspective in this industry. My confidence around ideas was not great; I didn’t have the language to define great work. I just knew that others were doing it more than I was. I was participating in my monthly habit of buying books I think will fix me when I stumbled upon a “you may also like” recommendation for a book called “Creative Demons and How to Slay Them.”

Intrigued by the cover, I added it to my cart. When I finished reading it over a car ride, I knew this author had peered into my scared little soul. I looked into this Richard Holman character and discovered he offered creative coaching. After a brief cross-Atlantic chat, I was sold.

Richard’s caring, personalized approach to coaching has changed how I work. I’m forever grateful for our conversations, and I have not ruled out further coaching in the future (hopefully before my three quarter life crisis).
